View Full Version : I heard IPX/SPX is faster than TCP/IP for gamming?
I heard IPX is faster than TCP/IP for gamming, and i was wondering if REnegade supports it, and if so how would i go about doing it?
From what I read on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPX), I kind of doubt it.
Because of Netware's popularity through the late 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s) into the mid 1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s), IPX became a popular internetworking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internetworking) protocol.
IPX usage is in general decline as the boom of the Internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet) has made TCP/IP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCP/IP) nearly universal. Computers and networks can run multiple network protocols (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_protocol), so almost all IPX sites will be running TCP/IP as well to allow for Internet connectivity.
a Friend of mine it taking a networking class and said that IPX/SPX increases your game speed by 20% and is a gamers friend??. but i was just wondering if renegade supports that and if so how to go about setting it up?
IPX packets are smaller than TCP packets, so it may be faster but i'm not sure.
Yeah but i danno if it works for renegade and everytime i do something to alter game play or add sometthing on my own i always "F" things up lol so i wanna be sure....
